Volunteer Tutors
Just two hours a week of working with an adult student could change their life—and yours.
Literacy New Jersey needs volunteers to work as tutors, helping adults with reading, writing, speaking English, and math. Students and tutors meet at a location convenient to both, such as a local library. Location is determined by student and tutor.
Our staff will guide you through the necessary steps to becoming a tutor by providing 15 hours of training, matching you with a student whose learning needs fit your abilities, and supporting you in working with your student.
If you are interested, please contact your local office for more information. We would love to hear from you.

AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps members play a crucial role in our literacy programs. AmeriCorps members receive a stipend to serve between 9-18 hours a week and provide essential support to our adult literacy programs. As an AmeriCorps member, you will help us expand our capacity to serve adult literacy students in NJ.
